High-quality social care brings immense benefits to the residents of Bolton

This announcement reaffirms the Good rating that was given in 2017, and has been accomplished despite the challenges posed by a pandemic, increasing costs, an ageing population, and limited government funding.

The Home Support Reablement Service offers evaluation and rehabilitation for individuals within the comfort of their own homes.

All areas that were assessed have received a good rating, providing reassurance to residents that the service is safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led.

Inspectors discovered that procedures were well-managed in terms of risk prevention, infection control, medication administration, health and nutrition requirements, and promoting individual rights and communication needs.

This rating is also a testament to the excellent quality of the contracted providers who offer information, advice, and guidance, adaptive equipment, care and carer assessments, short-term reablement, as well as care and nursing home beds.

The result supports the vision of “Bolton’s Living Well at Home”, which emphasizes the belief that everyone desires to live in their own homes, surrounded by loved ones and cherished belongings, within communities where people care for one another and engage in meaningful activities.

Under this vision, services focus on individuals’ strengths and provide personal care, practical assistance, and support to enable them to live their lives as comfortably and independently as possible.

Councillor Linda Thomas, Bolton’s Executive Member for Adult Social Care/Health & Wellbeing, commented:

“We are delighted with this positive rating, especially considering the extremely challenging circumstances we have faced.

“It highlights the exceptional quality of our staff and service providers, who have made a positive impact on the lives of our most vulnerable residents.

“While we will continue to modernize and enhance our services, we also urge the government to fulfill its promises regarding Social Care Reform and urgently provide the necessary funding.”
