Marcos Rojo joining Boca Juniors

Moving on

 Marcos Rojo’s time with Manchester United has come to an end.

The former United defender is joining Boca Juniors in his home country of Argentina for an undisclosed fee.

Rojo’s been with United since 2014 after signing from Sporting Lisbon for £16m.

The Argentine did sign an extension with the Red Devils in 2018 but has really struggled with injuries of late.

In six-and-a-half seasons he made 122 appearances at Man United.

The native of La Plata has spent a lot of time of late in his native Argentina.

He spent the second half of last season with his boyhood club Estudiantes.

He has yet to make any appearances in 2020/21.

Man United released a statement regarding the transfer.

“Marcos will return to his homeland on a permanent basis, after agreeing terms with the reigning Argentinian champions,”

“Everyone at the club would like to wish him all the best for the future.”

Rojo will join former United striker Carlo Tevez at Boca Juniors.

On the international stage, Rojo has 61 caps for country playing in the last two World Cups.(JSL).
