Heavy Rainfall Hit Greater Manchester: Flooding Alert

A yellow warning for heavy rainfall has been put for Greater Manchester. The Met Office announced that possible flooding and travel disruption are expected due to heavy rainfall.

According to Environment Agency, the rivers in Greater Manchester have already reached their peak levels after Storm Christoph. For that reason, the Met Office warned people of possible flooding. The rain is expected to continue until midnight today.

Flood alerts have been announced on the Middle River and near places like Bramhall, Stockport, Sale, Altrincham, and Urmston. Also, there is possible flooding in the River Bollin and near areas such as Knutsford, Wilmslow, Macclesfield, and Bollington.

Upper River is another region that flooding can be that can affect Oldham, Rochdale, Bolton, Haslingden, and Rawtenstall.

The Met Office website states: “Further rain moves into all areas during the evening, falling heavily at times and being confined to northern areas by the early hours. Showers will cross southern counties before dawn. Minimum temperature 2 °C.”
