Romantic bond flourishes and thrives

Wigan Council has decided to extend its partnership with Citizens Advice Wigan Borough, ensuring that residents will continue to receive free, impartial, and independent advice from the local charity.

Since 2018, Citizens Advice Wigan Borough has been providing invaluable support to the community, offering assistance with financial matters, debt and energy advice, benefits, housing, and more.

Throughout this period, the council and Citizens Advice have developed a strong bond that will only grow stronger over the next five years.

Councillor Susan Gambles, who oversees welfare at Wigan Council, stated: “Our families have been greatly affected by the cost-of-living crisis, and we are witnessing its consequences firsthand. We want to reassure our communities that we are here to help, and we encourage them to reach out to us as soon as their circumstances change in order to explore the support they may be entitled to.

“Citizens Advice Wigan Borough has been a lifeline for many residents, and I am delighted that we will continue to enhance this exceptional long-term partnership for the benefit of our customers.”

Lisa Kidston, Chief Officer at Citizens Advice Wigan Borough, expressed her satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration between her organization, Wigan Council, and Age UK Wigan Borough, emphasizing the importance of providing access to high-quality, confidential, impartial advice.

\”Over the past year, we have witnessed the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on residents, which is why this service has become more crucial than ever.”
