Manchester City’s hopes of a 17th consecutive win took a significant hit this week.
Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, the Premier League’s Player of the Month for January will miss Wednesday’s match against Everton with a groin injury.
The German has been a pivotal component to the team’s 100% record in 2021. He’s got nine goals this year becoming a primary figure in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne.
City boss Pep Guardiola says “Gundo is much better, but I don’t think is available for tomorrow.”
The 30-year-old has 11 goals in his last 11 appearances as City have a stranglehold on the Premier League sitting seven points clear of Manchester United.
He scored a pair of goals last week in their 3-0 win against Spurs. Unfortunately, he left that game 20 minutes from the end with groin problems.
Guardiola will hope to have the influential playmaker back this weekend when the Sky Blues face Arsenal.
Tomorrow’s match from Goodison Park takes place at 8:15 pm. (JSL).
