Detectives from the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are persistently delving into the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident involving a 16-year-old boy in Stretford. Their unwavering commitment is backed by a comprehensive and robust community policing strategy that has already been set into motion.
On the evening of Thursday, 10th August, at approximately 4:30 pm, GMP received a report from NWAS regarding a 16-year-old boy who had sustained a grave chest injury inflicted by a firearm on Langdale Road, Stretford.
The injured party remains under medical care, with the injuries, thankfully, not presently deemed life-threatening.
Energetic police efforts have led to the apprehension of two teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, on suspicion of attempted murder. They are currently in custody, where they will be interrogated as part of the ongoing investigation.
In addition to these measures, GMP has sanctioned a section 60 authority for the Stretford region, which can be viewed on the accompanying map. This legal provision empowers officers with extended stop-and-search capabilities within the defined Trafford area.
Operating under the provisions of the 1994 Criminal Justice and Public Order Act, these section 60 powers will be in effect for a 24-hour period commencing from 3 pm today and concluding at 3 pm on Saturday, 12th August.
Throughout the upcoming weekend, residents of Stretford can expect to encounter an augmented presence of uniformed officers in the vicinity, collaborating with detectives in both mobile and foot patrols.
Furthermore, a collaborative effort is underway with local partner agencies, including Trafford and Manchester councils.
