According to the latest data of Public Health England, coronavirus infection rates are still increasing in Greater Manchester. In nine of ten boroughs of Greater Manchester, the infection rates have increased compared to the previous week.
The latest data showed that the infection rate in Greater Manchester as a whole now 479.4 cases 100,000 people. A total of 13,593 people tested positive for coronavirus in the region last week.
Here are the latest figures for the infection rates of every borough in Greater Manchester :
Oldham
With a 32 % increase in the infection rate, Oldham now has the highest infection rate in the country. A total of 1453 people have tested positive for coronavirus last week in Oldham. The infection rate in Oldham is currently 612.8 cases per 100,000 people.
Wigan
Over the last week, a total of 1,780 people tested positive for coronavirus in Wigan. The latest infection rate in the borough is 541.6 cases per 100,000 people. Compared to the previous week, there is a 12% increase in the figures.
Rochdale
According to the latest data, the infection rate in Rochdale is now 530.1 cases per 100,000 people. With a 20% increase in the infection rate, a total of 1,179 people tested positive for coronavirus in the last seven days.
Salford
Salford continues to have higher infection rates compared to the rest of the region. The infection rate has increased by 6 % compared to the last week. The latest infection rate in Salford is 521.6 cases per 100,000 people.
Manchester
Like most of the boroughs in Greater Manchester, the trend is up in the city borough of Manchester. The infection rate has increased by 2% compared to the previous week. The infection rate is now 517.5 cases per 100,000 people. There were 2,861 positive cases for coronavirus in the borough.
Trafford
In Trafford, the latest infection rate is 512.3 cases per 100,000 people. There were 1,216 positive cases for coronavirus last week. The infection rate has increased by 27% compared to the previous figure.
Tameside
With a rise of 23%, the infection rate in Tameside is now 453.9 cases per 100,000 population. A total of 1,028 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven days has recorded in the borough.
Bury
Bury is the only borough in Greater Manchester that the number of cases is down. With a 2 % decrease in the figures, the latest infection rate in the borough is now t 381.2 cases per 100,000 population. A total of 728 positive coronavirus cases have recorded in Bury last week.
Stockport
Even a rise of 23% have recorded in Stockport, the borough has one of the lowest infection rates in Greater Manchester. The latest infection rate in Stockport is 368.4 cases per 100,000 people. There were 1,081 positive cases in the last seven days.
Bolton
Bolton has the lowest infection rate in Greater Manchester. With an 11% increase in the figure, the infection rate in the borough is now 318.9 cases per 100,000 people. There were 917 positive Covid-19 tests in the last seven days.
