Latest Coronavirus Infection Rates In Greater Manchester Show Rise In Almost Every Borough

COVID-19 infection rates continue to rise in eight of Greater Manchester’s ten boroughs. According to the latest figures of Public Health England, an increase has been reported for infection rate in every borough except Trafford and Bolton in weekly trends.
The latest data showed that Greater Manchester’s infection rate is now 101.1 cases per 100,000 population. That rate is still much higher than the national average which is 27.2. Bolton continues to have the highest infection rate in Greater Manchester whereas Tameside has the lowest infection rate.
Here are the latest infection rates for every borough of Greater Manchester :
Bolton
Bolton still has the highest infection rate in the region, but a 10 % decrease has been reported compared to the previous week’s infection rate. The latest infection rate in Bolton is 386.7 cases per 100,000 people that is much higher than the rest of Greater Manchester. Even though a decrease has been reported in weekly trends, an increase in the infection rate has been reported in the last 24 hours.
Manchester
With a 66% increase in the infection rate, Manchester has one of the highest infection rates in the region now. The latest infection rate in Manchester is 88.6 cases per 100,000 population.
Bury
The infection rate in Bury continues to rise. According to the latest data, the infection rate in Bury is now 85.9. Comparing the previous week, a 50% increase has been reported in the figure.
Salford
The latest infection rate in Salford is 82.3. The latest data showed that the infection rate has increased by 145 % compared to last week’s figures.
Rochdale
The infection rate in Rochdale is still high that it has increased by 62%. The infection rate in Rochdale is now 76.4 cases per 100,000 people.
Wigan
With a 77 % increase in the infection rate, the latest infection rate for the borough is 66.9 cases per 100,000 population.
Oldham
One of the highest increases has been recorded in Oldham. Comparing the previous week, the infection rate in the borough has increased by 152 %. The infection rate in Oldham is now 61.6 cases per 100,000 people.
Trafford
Trafford is the only borough in the region that both in weekly trend and in the last 24 hours, a decrease has been reported in the infection rate. With a 5% increase in the figure, the latest infection rate is 53.5 in Trafford.
Stockport
The highest increase in the figures has been recorded in Stockport. The infection rate in Stockport has increased by 169 %. The infection rate in Stockport is now 50.4 cases per 100,000 population.
Tameside
Tameside has the lowest infection rate in Greater Manchester. With a 73% increase in the figures, the latest infection rate in Tameside is 36.6 cases per 100,000 population.
