Illicit Tobacco and Counterfeit Toys Seized During Bolton Day of Action

Police and partner agencies have seized illegal tobacco products, vapes, cigarettes and counterfeit toys during a coordinated day of enforcement across Bolton town centre

Officers from Bolton Neighbourhood Policing Teams and the District Intelligence Unit joined forces with Bolton Council Trading Standards and specialist Wagtail detection dog teams on Monday, 5 October.

The operation saw teams visit eight premises, including vape shops in and around Bolton town centre, as part of efforts to identify and remove illicit goods from sale.

A range of products were seized during the visits, including illegal vapes, illicit cigarettes and tobacco, as well as counterfeit toys.

Detection dogs were also deployed to help officers locate goods hidden inside concealed areas. At one premises, teams discovered a substantial hidden compartment behind a wall containing a large quantity of illicit cigarettes.

The joint operation forms part of ongoing enforcement activity targeting businesses involved in the sale and distribution of illegal and counterfeit products across Bolton.

Police and Trading Standards officers say intelligence-led visits and multi-agency operations will continue to tackle the supply of illicit goods and protect consumers.
