Teen Arrested After Knife, Drugs and Cash Seized in Wythenshawe Stop

Officers from Greater Manchester Police’s proactive knife crime unit have arrested a teenage boy after recovering a large knife, drugs and cash during a patrol in Wythenshawe.

Members of Operation Venture were patrolling the Gladeside Road area shortly after 5.15pm on Wednesday when they became suspicious of a male riding a Sur-Ron electric bike.

Police said the rider initially attempted to flee after officers tried to engage with him, prompting a brief pursuit. He was later detained by a plain-clothes officer a short distance away.

Following his arrest, officers discovered the suspect was carrying a large knife along with what was described as a significant quantity of Class B drugs. A subsequent search of a property linked to the teenager led to the recovery of approximately £1,000 in cash.

The 15-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and possession of Class B drugs. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The seizure forms part of ongoing proactive work by Operation Venture, a specialist unit focused on tackling knife crime and violent offending across Greater Manchester. Police say targeted patrols and intelligence-led stops continue to play a key role in removing dangerous weapons from the streets.
