Coronavirus Cases Continue To Rise -The Latest Infection Rates In Greater Manchester

In most parts of Greater Manchester, COVID-19 infection rates continue to rise. According to the latest data from Public Health England, the infection rate in Greater Manchester is now 85.5 cases per 100,000 population. 

The infection rate of Greater Manchester is almost four times higher than the national average that is 23.0 cases per 100,000 people. Bolton still has the highest infection rate in England, and Bury’s infection rate is doubling every week. Only in Tameside and Stockport, a decrease has been reported in the infection rates.

Here are the latest infection rates for every borough of Greater Manchester : 

Bolton 

The infection rate in Bolton still has the highest in the country. Comparing the previous week, a 50% increase has been reported for Bolton. According to the latest data, the infection rate is 452.1 There were 1,300 positive coronavirus cases last week. 

Bury 

With a 102 % increase in the infection rate, Bury now has the second-highest infection rate in Greater Manchester. 123 positive coronavirus cases have been reported in Bury last week that is 62 more than the previous week. The infection rate is now 54.4 cases per 100,000 people.

Manchester 

The latest infection rate in Manchester is now 62.8 cases per 100,000 people. There is a 40% increase in the infection rate. A total of 347 people have tested positive for coronavirus last week in Manchester. With that figures, Manchester has one of the highest infection rates in Greater Manchester.

Trafford

130 positive coronavirus cases have been reported in Trafford last week. With a 59 % increase in the figure, the latest infection rate in Trafford is 54.8 cases per 100,000 people.

Rochdale

Like most of the boroughs in Greater Manchester, the infection rate in Rochdale has increased. There were 105 positive coronavirus cases last week in the borough. The latest infection rate in Rochdale is 47.2 cases per 100,000 population that means there is an 11% increase in the infection rate comparing the previous week.

Wigan

With a rise of 40%, the infection rate in Wigan is now 45.9 cases per 100,00 people. A total of 151 positive coronavirus cases have been reported in Wigan last week. 

Salford

A rise of 38% increase in the infection rate has been reported in Salford.88 positive coronavirus cases has been recorded in Salford last week and the latest infection rate is 34.0 cases per 100,000 population. 

Oldham

According to the latest data, the infection rate in Oldham is now 30.8 cases per 100,000 people. Comparing the previous week, there is a 78 % increase in the infection rate. There were 73 positive coronavirus cases in Oldham last week that was 32 more than the previous week.

Tameside

Tameside is one of two boroughs in Greater Manchester that a decrease in the infection rate has been reported.With 18 % decrease ,the latest infection rate is 23.4 cases per 100,000 population.53 cases have been recorded in Tameside last week.

Stockport

Stockport has the lowest infection rate in the region that the infection rate is 18.4 cases per 100,000 people. There is a 42 % decrease in the infection rate and 54 positive COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Stockport last week.
