Manchester Approves Viadux 2: City to Host UK’s Tallest Building Outside London
Manchester is experiencing a significant transformation with the approval of the Viadux 2 development, set to become the tallest building in the UK outside of London.

In April 2025, Manchester City Council approved plans for Viadux 2, a 76-storey skyscraper reaching 246 meters in height. Located in the Castlefield area, this mixed-use tower will feature residential apartments and a 160-bed hotel.
Upon completion, it will surpass Deansgate Square South Tower, becoming the tallest building in Greater Manchester and the third-tallest in the UK. Construction is expected to commence later this year, with Domis Construction leading the project.
This development is part of Manchester’s ongoing urban regeneration, reflecting the city’s ambition to redefine its skyline and accommodate a growing population.
