Stockport Council hosts home support worker open day

Following the success of Stockport Council’s Jobs Fair in September, the team are now hosting an open day for those interested in a career in adult social care.

On Monday 7th November, from 11am – 3pm at Stockport Central Library, there will be an opportunity for residents to come along and find out more about working as a home support worker. Attendees will be able to meet the friendly team from the council, and also have the chance to sign up for open roles on the day. There’s no need to book, and anyone can drop in during the day. No experience is required to sign up for the roles.A super rewarding career, being a home support worker means working with adults in Stockport to support them to remain independent. The council is particularly looking for those who are good communicators, who have their own reliable vehicle and who are passionate about giving something back to their community.

Councillor Keith Holloway, Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care at Stockport Council, commented: “We are always on the look out for more fantastic people to join our team in the adult social care department at Stockport Council. Being a home support worker is one of the most rewarding careers you can do, and you’ll be making a huge difference to our residents every day.

“Working at Stockport Council can offer many benefits, including our Vivup employee benefit scheme, as well as lots of support for colleagues and a chance to have your say in how the council is run and its processes. We’ve just become members of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter, which I hope really shows our commitment to giving our colleagues the best working life possible!”
