Library gifted with over £168,000 in funding boost

An exciting new era is about to begin for Northmoor Library, thanks to a generous boost of more than £168,000. Oldham Council has secured funding from the Arts Council England’s Library Improvement Fund to revamp the Chadderton Way building. The money will be used to make essential repairs and upgrades, including a new roof, doors, and windows to enhance energy efficiency. In addition, the library will see improvements in its digital services with the addition of a study space and more computers. Community groups will also be encouraged to use the newly refurbished library for meetings and events. The council has also provided match funding to the value of £17,000, bringing the total investment to £168,000. Councillor Peter Dean, Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture, expressed his excitement for the improvements, highlighting the library’s role as a community hub offering a wide range of activities and services. The funding will not only enhance the library’s current offerings but also provide residents with access to valuable services and learning opportunities.
