Whitefield town centre’s fresh blueprint unveiled for public scrutiny
Residents and businesses in Whitefield are being invited to share their thoughts on the latest initiatives aimed at enhancing the town centre. These proposed changes, which have been developed with input from local residents, follow visits from the Government’s High Streets Task Force. To review the plans and contribute your opinions, visit the official website of Bury Council’s regeneration initiative for Whitefield town centre. Additionally, drop-in events will be held at Morrisons on Friday 2 February (10am to 1pm) and Saturday 3 February (12pm to 3pm). The deadline for submitting views is Friday 16 February. The council is also arranging meetings with specific stakeholder groups, including the Blind Society. To get in touch with the project team, email [email protected]. Notable proposals in the plan include relocating GP and health services to the former Whitefield Library site, improving navigation in the town centre, and establishing a Family Hub offering various support services for families. Councillor Gareth Staples-Jones, Bury Council’s deputy lead for strategic growth, emphasized the importance of community involvement in this project and encouraged residents to participate in the consultation process to shape the future of Whitefield. The press release was issued on 22 January 2024.
