University of Manchester Joins Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter

The University of Manchester has been accredited as a full member of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter, a recognition that underscores its commitment to high employment standards. The Charter, established to improve workplace practices across Greater Manchester, focuses on seven key areas: Secure Work, Flexible Work, Pay, Engagement & Voice, Recruitment, People Management, and Health & Wellbeing.

As one of the largest employers in the region, with over 12,500 staff in various professional and academic roles, the University of Manchester aims to be a leading employer both nationally and internationally. Membership in the Good Employment Charter is voluntary and awarded to organizations that meet the criteria across all seven characteristics.

The Charter was collaboratively developed by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), local districts, trade unions, and representatives from various sectors, reflecting a broad consensus on enhancing employment practices throughout the region.
