Three teenagers charged with murder
33-year-old man’s body found in the Leeds and Liverpool Canal
A group of teenagers face murder charges after the police discovered the body of a 33-year-old man on Thursday morning.
According to police Scott Anderton had suffered stab wounds and blunt trauma in the incident.
They found Anderton’s body in the Leeds and Liverpool Canal near King Street in Leigh, Greater Manchester, just before 7:00 GMT on Thursday.
18-year-old Liam Bailey, from Diamond Street in Leigh, and two other boys aged 16 and 17 appeared in Manchester Magistrates’ Court to answer to the charges.
For legal reasons we can’t name the other two boys.
All three alleged suspects will appear at Manchester Crown Court on Tuesday.
Anderton’s family described him as “our diamond in the mud”. (JSL).
