Seven more fined for fly-tipping and littering
Seven people have been fined for fly-tipping their waste or littering on the streets of Bury in August.
Fixed penalty notices were served on them: £75 for the littering offences and £400 for those of fly-tipping.
The offences were committed at Ferngrove, Hawks Close, Denton Street, Ormrod Street, Spring Street, and two incidents at Broad Oak Lane.
Since 2021, the council has issued 106 fines for fly-tipping, 78 for littering and three people have been served Household Duty of Care warnings. There have also been 22 court prosecutions over that time and coming up next month.
All the fines issued in August were paid within seven days.
Councillor Alan Quinn, cabinet member for the environment, climate change and operations, said: “Everyone hates litter and fly-tipping. It spoils our environment, and costs local taxpayers money to clear it up.
“We will continue to take action against those who dump their rubbish on our streets and green spaces. If anyone has information about offences or the perpetrators, please contact the council.”
