Salford Homecare Frequently Asked Questions

Salford City Council and its partners have a strong and clear ambition to enable people to remain independent, living in their own home for as long as possible.

One of the services that supports this ambition is the provision of homecare. Through the commissioning of homecare support in Salford, the city council and partners expect that people working in homecare are valued, skilled, supported, equipped and developed to do their job effectively.

Following feedback from homecare workers, Salford City Council, Salford Care Organisation and Unison have developed the Homecare Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). The Frequently Asked Questions are intended to offer information about key aspects of homecare in Salford including how staff can raise issues and get support.

Councillor Mishal Saeed, Executive Support Social Care and Mental Health at Salford City Council said: “I am very pleased to introduce the Salford Homecare Frequently Asked Questions. We have worked in partnership with a range of stakeholders to ensure the answers to the questions are meaningful and helpful for homecare workers. I am confident that the FAQs will become instrumental in securing better conditions for our highly valued social care workforce and help them to continue to provide excellent services to Salford people.”

Julia Mwaluke said: “As someone who has worked in care for a long time, the Homecare FAQs are well written and cover all the essential information to support care workers undertake their role. It is vital care is person centred and the clarity the document provides will ensure Salford residents are cared for in the most respectful and dignified manner possible. The additional information covered in the document on carer worker rights, demonstrates Salford values its caring workforce. Fantastic and very elaborate piece of work. Thank you so much.”
