Police appeal for information following stabbing in Tameside

At around 3.10pm on Wednesday 2 April 2025, we responded to reports of a man with injuries that were consistent with a stabbing at an address on Yew Tree Road, Denton.

The man – in his 20s – was taken to hospital with injuries, that are thankfully, not believed to be life-threatening.

We managed to arrest a man in his 20s on suspicion of attempted murder and a female in his 40s on suspicion of assisting an offender.

They have both been bailed pending further enquires.

We are now appealing for witnesses, or anyone who may have crucial information which may assist with the progression of the investigation, to come forward.

Detective Inspector Ian Parker from our Tameside district said:

Following an incident in Denton last night, we have acted swiftly to detain two individuals. I would like to reassure our community that we believe this to be a targeted attack.

We take knife-related incidents incredibly serious at Greater Manchester Police and are determined to secure justice for the victim, who thankfully, did not receive any life-threatening injuries.

Incidents such as this one will understandably cause concern, our officers will maintain a visible presence in the area, and we encourage anyone with information to come forward as we continue our investigation.

Information can be submitted by calling us on 101 and quoting log 2142 of 02/04/2025.
