One Trafford Partnership nears completion of £5.1 million highway improvement programme
The One Trafford Partnership is nearing the end of the outgoing 2023/24 highway improvement programme, with over 100 schemes completed along Trafford’s road network.
With a total investment of £5.1 million, the programme has implemented multiple treatment methods such as resurfacing, surface dressing, patching, and footways enhancement to improve and protect Trafford’s largest asset. Notable schemes delivered include Carrington Spur A6144, extending from the M60 Roundabout to Banky Lane, Atlantic Street, Charcoal Road, Irlam Road, and Norris Road.
In the 2023/24 programme, One Trafford, a collaboration between Trafford Council and Amey, completed approximately 283,210m² across highway works, including resurfacing, surface dressing, and patching. This area is roughly equivalent to nearly 40 football pitches.
Over the last year, the partnership has been working with Transport for Greater Manchester to improve bus stops across the borough; improving accessibility and supporting a better, connected city.
Councillor Stephen Adshead, Executive Member for Highways, Environmental & Traded Services, shared his thoughts on the programme: “Highways represent our largest asset, and it’s essential we use our expertise to not only maintain but enhance their condition. This year’s highway capital programme, with an investment of £5.1 million, demonstrates our dedication to protecting our roads and increasing the longevity of surfaces using advanced surface treatment methods.”
The One Trafford Partnership continues its commitment to providing quality environmental and infrastructure services, including highways, property management, street cleaning, and waste management. Currently, our teams are focused on planning the next set of improvement works for 2024/25, aiming to uphold the safety, durability, and maintenance of Trafford’s roads.
