Next phase prepared for £18 million Partington Sports Village proposals
Trafford Council is gearing up to progress to the next phase of exciting plans for Partington Sports Village.
The latest advancements in the £18.3m plans were given the green light at a meeting of the Council’s Executive on Monday.
The ambitious plans for Partington Sports Village include revamping Partington Leisure Centre with a comprehensive multi-million pound refurbishment, enhancing the BMX track and associated facilities, completely renovating Cross Lane Park changing rooms, and constructing a path around the park to improve access and promote walking and running in the area.
Councillors have also agreed to submit a planning application for the work and commence construction.
Cllr Cath Hynes, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Leisure, Arts, Culture and Heritage, commented:
“We’ve applied for levelling-up money to rejuvenate the sports village, we’ve consulted on the plans, now it’s time to get those plans submitted for approval and then get the leisure centre redeveloped.
“These are exciting times. The new facilities will be fantastic for the entire community. We’re dedicated to enhancing the health and wellbeing of all our residents and there will be something for everyone at the improved sports village.”
There is expected to be a temporary full closure of Partington Sports Village to facilitate refurbishment work. The closure will occur from autumn this year in preparation for work to be carried out throughout 2025. The complete refurbishment of the leisure centre is projected to take up to 15 months, with a reopening scheduled for January 2026.
