Manchester Met Business School secures five-year EQUIS accreditation

Manchester Metropolitan University Business School has been awarded the maximum five-year EQUIS accreditation reaffirming its position as a globally recognised leader in business education.
This achievement validates the School’s status as a triple-accredited institution and attests to Manchester Metropolitan’s reputation as the UK’s leading modern University.
First awarded in 2019, EQUIS accreditation benchmarks business schools against international standards for education, research ethics, responsibility and sustainability, and engagement with practice. Alongside EQUIS, the Business School holds the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and AMBA (Association of MBAs) accreditations.
Re-accreditation requires schools to meet exceptional standards in terms of strategy, programme design and delivery. They must demonstrate positive outcomes for graduates, produce high-quality research and have impactful connections with the real-world with a global outlook.
The Business School was commended for its clear vision to transform lives, businesses and communities, which aligns with the University’s Road to 2030 strategy. The School was also praised for having robust governance, strong autonomy and investments in facilities and technology as key enablers of the School’s ambitions.
Professor Hannah Holmes, Dean of the Business School and Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor for the Faculty of Business and Law, said: “This recognition reflects the dedication of our staff, students and partners, and demonstrates our commitment to delivering world-class education and research. We are proud to be recognised for our strengths in sustainability, diversity and connections to practice, and we will continue to build on these foundations to create even greater impact locally and globally.”
Professor Malcolm Press CBE DL, Vice-Chancellor of Manchester Metropolitan, added: “Achieving this five-year accreditation is a strong affirmation of our Business School’s global standing. At Manchester Met, we are committed to shaping the future of business education through innovative programmes, cutting-edge research and a deep focus on sustainability and social impact. This recognition reinforces our ambition to drive positive change for businesses and communities.”
Research activity at the Business School has grown significantly, with a strong rise in high-quality publications and international collaborations. The creation of the Sustainability Hub, bringing together more than 140 members, is an example of the School’s leadership in ethics, responsibility, and sustainability. It is ranked among the top five UK universities for sustainability and has integrated carbon literacy training across all programmes.
Connections with practice remain a core strength, with Manchester Met recognised as the UK’s leading provider of degree apprenticeships; this involves partnerships with over 600 employers, including organisations such as Barclays, the BBC, and the NHS. The Business School’s Centre for Enterprise has also supported thousands of SMEs and played a key role in regional and national economic development.
Most recently, the Business School has invested in award-winning facilities and advanced digital learning technologies, including a Bloomberg Suite that provides state-of-the-art resources for finance and economic teaching. These innovations support hybrid learning and create a modern teaching environment for students.
