CCTV footage shared by local residents showed a man attempting to gain access to vehicles by testing door handles.
In response, Trafford response officers swiftly detained a man in his 50s, who remains in custody on suspicion of vehicle interference.
Investigators believe the individual may be linked to other similar incidents reported in recent weeks, and enquiries are ongoing.
