Leaders and partners gather to celebrate official launch of International College

Manchester Metropolitan has officially launched its new International College, marking a major step in the University’s Road to 2030 strategy.
The launch event, held on Thursday 2 October, brought together University leaders, representatives from partner organisation Navitas, and key external stakeholders including senior figures from Consulates based in Manchester and the GMCA.
Hosted by Professor Jenny Watling, Pro-Vice-Chancellor International, the evening featured speeches from Vice-Chancellor Professor Malcolm Press CBE DL and Paul Lovegrove, Navitas CEO, UP Europe and Chief Operating Officer.
The International College is being delivered in partnership with Navitas, a leading global education provider with a 30-year history of supporting international student success.
Based at the heart of its campus, the College will provide foundation, international year one and pre-master’s programmes across a wide range of subjects. These pathways are designed to prepare students for progression onto degrees and for success in their chosen careers.
The College welcomed its first intake of international students just last week, bringing new talent, diversity, and perspectives into the University community. Students benefit from a supportive and collaborative environment, while also enjoying access to state-of-the-art teaching facilities and the wider University experience.
Speaking at the event, Professor Malcolm Press CBE DL, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Navitas to deliver our International College, a key part of our ambitious strategy for the future.
“Manchester Metropolitan celebrates the vibrancy and diversity that international students bring, enriching campus life, inspiring new perspectives, and enhancing learning for all. We look forward to supporting students from around the globe on their educational journey, helping them make the most of our outstanding facilities, and welcoming them into a dynamic and thriving academic environment where they can truly flourish.”
Paul Lovegrove, Chief Executive Officer, Navitas University Partnerships Europe, also addressed guests at the launch, saying: “We are delighted to be working with Manchester Metropolitan, supporting their strategic goals and international ambitions through our global experience and expertise.
“Manchester is an outstanding city for international students, and Manchester Metropolitan offers an exceptional learning environment with world-class facilities. As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, Navitas looks forward to welcoming and supporting students from around the world, and to returning at future graduations to celebrate the success of the first cohort who join the college and enjoy everything the University has to offer.”
The new International College represents a cornerstone of the University’s Internationalisation Strategy, deepening global partnerships, expanding international student numbers, and cementing our role as a leader in delivering world-class education in one of the UK’s most dynamic, diverse and welcoming cities.
