Police investigating and armed robbery at a Shop in Leigh
At 7 am on Sunday, December 6th, three thieves men wearing dark clothing and balaclavas entered One Stop Shop on Chestnut Drive South. They‘re threatened staff with a sledge-hammer. They pushed one staff member to the floor before they attempted to break into the money tills. One staff in his 50s challenged one of the thieves and was assaulted with the axe. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He has been discharged.
Offenders escaped with cash from the store with an unidentified vehicle. Detective Sergeant Sophie said: These offenders have subjected to the shop staff to a terrifying ordeal. One of the staff members has been injured after bravely confronting. The GMP police released images from the store and would appeal to anyone who recognises these people on the pictures.
