Fun-filled family play day scheduled for this weekend in Edgeley

During the exciting weekend festivities as part of our Town of Culture activities, Castle Street will see the installation of new play equipment and a ‘A child’s eye view’ trail co-created with local children. In addition, Edgeley will come alive with two days of playful street activities, all inspired by ideas from local children and open to everyone.

On Saturday 9th March, Castle Street will host a day of play, featuring an on-street disco, a googly eye bombing walking tour, and various street games like giant hopscotch and ring toss. Don’t forget to get creative with some massive chalk provided for colourful fun.

Sunday 10th March will focus on community action, with a child-friendly ‘open mic’ style speakers corner and mini eco-warriors can enjoy ‘lighting talks’ from local organisations involved in active travel and climate action. There will also be seed bomb making workshops to celebrate Mother’s Day.

The event will provide an opportunity for feedback on the activities and suggestions for future events. Join us on Castle Street from 11am to 2pm on both Saturday and Sunday. All events are free and open to all.

And remember, there will be more activities to enjoy at the Stockport Town of Culture Weekender on 23rd and 24th March, with a weekend of free cultural festivities and access to must-visit venues in the town centre.
