Four more fined for fly-tipping and littering
Four more people have been fined for dumping their waste on the streets of Bury.
Fixed penalty notices of £400 were served on three of them for offences of fly-tipping at Wash Lane, Bury; Hurst Street, Bury; and Rainsough Brow, Prestwich. A fourth person was fined £75 for littering at Haslam Street, Bury.
More than 200 fines have been issued for littering and fly-tipping across Bury in the last three years, and more than 20 people have been prosecuted in court.
Councillor Alan Quinn, cabinet member for the environment, climate change and operations, said: “Fly-tipping is a crime, and offenders know exactly what they are doing. That’s why we will take action against these people who choose to blight our borough.”
Fly-tipping is illegally dumped rubbish on a road, pavement, or open space. It can come from a household or a business, and the amount of dumped rubbish can range from one bag to a large lorry load.
