Firefighters Tackle Large Scrap Metal Fire at Bury Site
Firefighters from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) battled a significant fire at a commercial premises involving a large amount of scrap metal on Pimhole Road, Bury, during the early hours of Tuesday, September 3. The blaze prompted the deployment of eight fire engines from Bury, Whitefield, Ramsbottom, Heywood, Broughton, Agecroft, Oldham, and Bolton, along with special appliances including a turntable ladder and a drone unit.
Road closures were implemented as GMFRS crews, in coordination with partner agencies, worked to control the fire. Residents were advised to keep their windows and doors closed due to smoke in the area.

By 9:30 am, the fire was extinguished, but firefighters remained on-site to dampen down hot spots and manage debris. Rochdale Road, previously closed due to the incident, has since been re-opened.
