Exciting proposals unveiled to revitalize the vicinity encompassing MediaCity and Manchester United’s stadium

Trafford Council is seeking public input on a bold plan to revitalize the area surrounding MediaCity and Manchester United’s Old Trafford football stadium. The draft Trafford Wharfside masterplan envisions the Trafford Wharfside area becoming a thriving community over the next 15 years. Developed in collaboration with major stakeholders such as Peel, Manchester United, and Salford City Council, the plan aims to guide future development in the area while prioritizing nature and landscape. It also aims to create up to 5,000 new high-quality homes, connect Trafford Wharfside to the city centre, and provide a world-class setting for Manchester United’s football stadium. The plan will be discussed by Trafford Councillors later this month. The vision for Trafford Wharfside is to create well-connected communities with easy access to amenities, landmarks, and public spaces. It will be divided into distinct areas, including Trafford Wharf, Heritage Quarter, Stadium District, Innovation Quarter, and Wharfside Heart. Councillor Liz Patel, Executive member for Economy and Regeneration, expressed excitement about the masterplan’s potential to positively shape the area’s development. Manchester United’s Chief Operating Officer, Collette Roche, also expressed support for the vision, highlighting the potential benefits for the local community. Similarly, Anna Bensky, Associate Director for Peel, emphasized the opportunity to create a vibrant neighborhood with world-class cultural and sporting attractions. Salford Council’s Lead Member for Planning, Transport, and Sustainable Development, Councillor Mike McCusker, praised the collaboration between Trafford and Salford and the positive impact it will have on the region. Overall, the plan aims to create a greener, more natural place to live and visit while driving growth and investment in the area.
