Elevate Stockport’s Digital Triumph
Stockport’s DigiKnow service has been supporting individuals in getting online and learning how to safely use the internet since 2018, with over 47,000 local residents benefiting from digital services during that time.
The commendable efforts of Stockport Council and its partners through the Stockport Digital Inclusion Alliance to provide DigiKnow have been acknowledged with a nomination in the Substantial Impact Award category at the 2023 iNetwork Innovation Awards.
Voting is now open for the iNetwork Innovation Awards, enabling the public to cast their votes for the projects they believe have made the greatest contribution to enhancing digital service excellence.
The public’s votes will be taken into account when determining the winner, alongside the opinions of the judges – so we rely on your votes!
Voting can be done on the iNetwork website, where you can also find information about the submissions in each category. The voting period concludes at midnight on Sunday, 21 January 2024.
The shortlisted finalists will be announced by Friday, 2 February 2024, and the winners will be revealed during an awards ceremony on Thursday, 7 March 2024.
Councillor Jilly Julian, Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources, expressed:
“The nomination of DigiKnow in these awards is a commendable recognition of the vital work undertaken by our council colleagues, partners, and volunteers in assisting those within our community who require support with digital technology. In a world where almost everything can be accomplished online and a significant portion of our lives is digital, the lack of access to a computer or the knowledge of utilizing the internet can be incredibly isolating and disadvantageous. I have personally witnessed the life-changing impact that gaining confidence in using the internet can have. DigiKnow is an invaluable resource in bridging the digital divide and promoting digital inclusivity throughout the borough, having already reached over 47,000 of our residents! We take immense pride in the DigiKnow service and would greatly appreciate your vote.”
Now in their tenth year, the iNetwork Innovation Awards present an excellent opportunity to celebrate, learn from, and share innovation within the local public sector. Their aim is to highlight projects and teams within Greater Manchester’s local authorities that are revolutionizing the delivery of public services to better serve our communities.
