Director of Eurovision Song Contest announced as new Visiting Professor at Manchester Met

Manchester Metropolitan University is delighted to announce the appointment of Martin Green CBE as Visiting Professor of Global Events, Culture and Entertainment.
Commencing July 1, 2025, the Professorship will span three years and aims to support Events Management students by providing industry-leading expertise and practical advice.
The appointment also formally recognises the longstanding relationship between Manchester Met and Martin, whose work on events such as the London 2012 Olympics opening and closing ceremonies, Hull City of Culture 2017 programme and Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games is widely lauded in the events industry.
Martin is currently Director of the Eurovision Song Contest at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in Geneva, leading the global delivery of the world’s biggest music show.
The 2025 Contest in Basel was watched by 166 million people and generated 2 billion social media interactions.
This strategic appointment aligns with Manchester Met’s commitment to delivering a future-focused curriculum that bridges academic theory with industry practice and world-class expertise.
