Appeal for Eccles locals to join groundbreaking project in Eccles
Salford City Council has revealed a captivating photography project in Eccles in collaboration with Open Eye Gallery.
Named “Picturing Eccles,” the project will showcase the town through the lenses of Eccles residents and the town’s very own Photographer in Residence, Paula Keenan. Running until June 2024, the project aims to capture the essence of Eccles during a period of ambitious regeneration.
With plans to revitalise the town centre, Salford City Council is working closely with local organisations, community groups, and businesses to bring about transformative changes. The collaboration between the council and Open Eye Gallery seeks to celebrate local culture and heritage amidst the ongoing developments in Eccles.
Photographer Paula Keenan will lead workshops and activities in Eccles, inviting residents to participate regardless of their photography experience. Together, they will create a collection of images that tell the story of Eccles, from its past to its future, culminating in a public exhibition in the summer of 2024.
Councillor Hannah Robinson-Smith of Salford City Council highlighted the importance of using photography to preserve the town’s history and embrace its future. Photographer Paula Keenan expressed her excitement to work with the community in Eccles, encouraging residents to share their stories and hidden gems for the project.
Overall, “Picturing Eccles” offers a unique opportunity for amateur photographers to contribute to a special project that celebrates the town’s heritage and evolution.
