A Man Has Been Arrested For The Sexual Assault In Fallowfield
After the sexual assault in Fallowfield, a man has been arrested. The victim is being supported by specialist services and the investigation continues.
On 20 February 2021, police called a property in Rochdale with a report of concern for the welfare of a girl. After the girl reported the assault, GMP started the investigation.
In the investigation, officers established that while the girl was walking along Keppel Road in Chorlton-cum-Hardy at 12.30 am, a man in a dark coloured vehicle asked the girl if she needed a lift. After that, the girl was raped by him in the Upper Chorlton Road area of Whalley Range.
A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape yesterday. He is in custody.
Detective Inspector Jon Weir from the City of Manchester South district at Greater Manchester Police said: “This is a shocking incident and a traumatic ordeal for the victim. We are working closely with her and partners to ensure support is in place, at what is a very difficult time.”
