A Body Was Found In River Near Stockport Shopping Centre

After a body was found in River Goyt today, emergency services came to the scene. A large presence from the police, fire, and ambulance services are currently at the scene. Police said that the members of the public should avoid the area.

Greater Manchester Police were called to River Goyt shortly before midday with the report of a body in water. The incident is close to a Stockport shopping centre. North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended to the scene.

An investigation has launched into the circumstances of the woman’s death.No information has been shared for the identity of the woman, yet.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Police were called at around 11.55 am to a report of a body in the river off Newbridge Lane, Stockport. Emergency services attended and a woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.”

“A multi-agency response is ongoing and an investigation is underway into the circumstances of her death. Her next of kin have yet to be informed.”
