Age no barrier as Bury gets set for a celebration of running and fundraising
Thousands of participants of all abilities spanning the decades, from the ages of 3 to 81, are set to descend on Bury at thet weekend for one of the biggest annual mass running events in the region.
Taking place on Sunday 15 September and staged by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, the UK’s largest not-for-profit events company in partnership with Bury BID and Bury Council, the action-packed day will welcome the return of the hugely popular Bury 10K, sponsored by Bury BID, along with the Mini and Junior runs, sponsored by Xerox Business Solutions.
The events will see participants raising substantial sums for a host of good causes and a diverse range of partner charities including the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Creating Lives Centre, BACKUP North West and Jigsaw Bury.
One of the charities, Creating Lives Centre, was founded in 1995 and came about through an envisioning process involving service users and creative therapists. Together they identified the need for a person-centred holistic approach to supporting people experiencing poor emotional wellbeing and poor mental health.
The Bury BID 10K starts at 09:30 on Sunday morning outside the Rock Shopping Centre and will take runners along Tottington Road and Bury Road, before exploring the local nature reserve, the Kirklees Trail. The course will then loop back towards the town centre before participants cross the all-important finish line back outside The Rock.
A great event for runners and spectators alike, this scenic route promises to attract huge crowds of supporters as the town centre meets the picturesque countryside. The town of Bury enjoys a reputation for being so welcoming, and participants can expect a great atmosphere and enthusiastic crowd support as they make their way around the course.
Kicking off shortly after the Bury BID 10K, the mini and junior events also feature a start and finish outside the Rock Shopping Centre.
Inviting mini and juniors of all abilities, the Mini 1.5km caters to children between the ages of 3 – 8 whilst the Junior 2.5km for children between the ages of 9 and 14.
Participants are invited to wheel, walk, jog and run as organisers work to make the event accessible to all abilities.
Run For All and Bury BID will work together to inspire, motivate and empower participants of all ages and abilities to take on the 10K.

In a new addition to this year’s Bury BID 10K, participants are invited to part ways with unwanted old trainers, where drop-off stations will be made readily available throughout the Event Village located in Parsons Lane Car Park. This forms part of a brand-new Run For All partnership with JogOn, whose primary intention is to keep running shoes out of landfill.
The Bury BID 10K is supported by Bury Council, Let’s Do It, The Rock Shopping Centre, BBC Radio Manchester, Arla Protein, High 5, Up and Running, Coopah, Shokz, Gradwell, Marathon Photos and Jog On.
