Local authority and Amey persisting in creating a substantial impact

Trafford Council’s collaboration with Amey is proving to be a resounding success in various aspects, including making a positive difference within our communities.

Recent statistics from the One Trafford Partnership over the past year highlight achievements such as the enhancement of 283,210 square metres of roads through the Highway Capital Programme, the transition to electric vehicles in our fleet, efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the borough, and the attainment of green flags for our parks.

In addition to the partnership’s infrastructure accomplishments, there is a strong focus on fulfilling social impact and community engagement objectives.

Noteworthy achievements include:

– Volunteer hours: Amey employees in Trafford have collectively volunteered 1,004 hours since 2021 through Amey’s Social Impact Day initiative, with each employee having two opportunities to participate per year.
– Disability Confident Leader: Amey was awarded a Disability Confident Leader certificate in 2023, demonstrating a commitment to inclusivity for individuals of all abilities. The OTP recently employed a supported intern through Trafford Council, who has since become a permanent staff member.
– School engagement: The OTP has collaborated with 10 schools on various initiatives in 2023, ranging from promoting active travel and recycling to offering insights on employment and future skills.
– CRUK partnership: Amey has raised nearly £300k for Cancer Research UK since the partnership began in 2021, with ongoing fundraising activities like bake-offs and Race for Life.
– Charitable contributions: Donations have been made to Trafford Care Leavers and Cancer Research UK, along with essential toiletry supplies provided to Trafford Domestic Abuse Service.

Cllr Stephen Adshead, Executive Member for Highways, Environmental and Traded Services at Trafford Council, commented: “Our partnership with Amey is making significant strides in areas such as highways, the environment and parks. I am pleased to see the positive impact we are also making within our communities through our social impact initiatives.”
