Two fresh displays unveiled at Bury Art Gallery & Sculpture Centre

Two spanking new exhibitions are set to launch on Saturday the 9th of March at Bury Art Museum and Sculpture Centre.

‘East meets West’ offers a unique chance to feast your eyes on artworks from the private collection of the artist Wayne Warren, alongside paintings from Bury’s permanent collection that are rarely seen by the public. The exhibit will showcase prints, drawings, and paintings, as well as three-dimensional works by renowned artists like Banksy, Pablo Picasso, and Takashi Murakami. Delve into contemporary pieces from China, Japan, and Australia that explore themes of nationality, identity, the human form, aspiration, and commercialism. European works by JMW Turner and Victor Pasmore, as well as pieces from the last century by British artists including Tracey Emin, will also be on display.

Meanwhile, Wayne’s creations will take centre stage in ‘Babel’, a collaborative exhibition with Jonathan Wright, at Bury Sculpture Centre. This exhibition delves into the concept of the tower, in various shapes and forms, as an image and metaphor. It questions whether the urge to construct bigger, taller, denser structures for living and working reflects the kind of arrogance cautioned against in the biblical tale of the tower of Babel.
