People asked for views on travelling by bus, walking, wheeling and cycling between two key locations in Salford.
People are being asked to share their experiences of travelling by bus, walking, wheeling and cycling between two key locations in Salford as part of efforts to speed up journeys and make public transport more reliable.
Views are being sought on the route of the existing number 50 bus service between Salford Crescent and MediaCityUK, as well as improving facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.
Both areas serve as hubs for employment, education, and technology, with ambitious plans for growth and development. This makes it crucial that public transport and active travel options properly support the changing needs of the community.
A survey is open now for people to share their views and closes on 3 December.
People’s feedback will be used to help shape bus and active travel improvements in the area with a wider goal of supporting sustainable, better quality and more reliable journeys along the route.
Future improvements could include changes to the road that improve bus journey times and reliability, as well as bus stops that are comfortable and more accessible. People’s views will also help with potential plans for new and improved routes for walking/wheeling and cycling.
Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is delivering the Bee Network, Greater Manchester’s vision for a fully integrated, London-style transport system joining together buses, trams, cycling and walking by early 2025, with rail incorporated by 2030.
“We want to learn more about people’s experiences of using this route so that we can develop improvements for bus and active travel and strengthen connectivity in the area.
“With all that in mind, I would encourage as many people as possible to take part in the survey and have their say in shaping local transport services.”
Councillor Mike McCusker, Lead Member for Planning, Transport and Sustainable Development said: “We’ve recently launched our Greener Salford campaign which highlights our commitment to making greener transport solutions better and more accessible. This call for feedback forms part of that as we look at ways of reducing car journeys and providing sustainable alternatives.
It’s really important for users of this particular route to share with us their experiences as well as their thoughts on what could be improved. This feedback is vital to help us shape fit for purpose improvements around this route in the future.”
Salford City Council and TfGM are calling on residents and people who use the existing 50 bus service – as well as those who walk/wheel, or cycle to, from or between Salford Crescent and MediaCityUK – to have their say.
By sharing their insights and suggestions, those who take part will directly influence the future improvements that will benefit the entire community.
People can take part in the survey online before the closing date on 3 December 2023.
