Police arrested a 19-year-old man for a collision between a pedestrian and a car on St. Ann’s Road North, Heald Green. The pedestrian-an 18-year-old male was taken to the hospital after the collision with minor injuries.
Officers were called to the scene at 7.20 pm on 25 April 2021 for the report of the collision. The car -a white Volkswagen Golf – failed to stop at the scene and hit a pedestrian.
An investigation was launched yesterday and a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Detective Constable Robert Shakespeare of GMP’s Stockport district said: “We recognise the concern and worry this incident has created in the area and I want to reassure the public that we are doing all we can to identify the responsible party. Thankfully the man did not sustain any serious injuries but the outcome of this collision could have been far worse.”
“Although one male has been arrested in connection with this incident I would stress that our investigation is very much ongoing and I appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time – or has dash-cam footage – to get in touch with police as soon as possible.”
