Prolific striker returns to Old Trafford

Charlie McNeil signs with Manchester United

Bolstering the youth

As inactive as Man United are on the transfer market, they’ve been extremely busy adding young prospects to the squad.

The latest one to join the Reds is Charlie McNeil who’s leaving United’s biggest rival in Man City.

He becomes the fourth youngster to come to Old Trafford this summer.

Earlier United signed a trio of Spaniards, Marc Jurado, Alejandro Garnacho and Alvaro Fernandez.

Lethal Finisher

The 17-year-old striker was sensational with City scoring over 600 academy goals.

The Telegraph describes the young man as a “lethal finisher” who is “comfortable with both feet”.

Return

McNeil left United’s academy in 2013 to move to City.

The striker signed a three-year deal with United with an option to extend to a fourth year when he turns 18.

The Telegraph reports that McNeil will earn £675,000 as part of the deal with some special add-ons.

Those add-ons include a clause relating to making a senior appearance for England, which could take the total fee up to £1.4 million.

McNeil is expected to join the Under-18 United squad. (JSL)
