Greater Manchester Police Officer Was Jailed For Sexual Assault

A Greater Manchester Police officer from Tameside was jailed for sexual assault of a young girl many times.

Farooq Ahmed, 37, gave his confession note to GMP before Christmas and accepted all his criminal activity. After the confession, the police officer was jailed for two years. Farooq Ahmed also was dismissed from the force of GMP permanently.

The police officer served in GMP for almost three years in Tameside. At around 8 pm on November 26, 2020, he came and gave his confession note to GMP Central Park Police station. In his note, he said that he sexually assaulted a young girl repeatedly.

The CPS said that the police officer assaulted a girl aged under-13 by touching, and took an indecent photograph of a child. The offences happened between April 2016 and April 2018.

Detective Sergeant Zahid Latif, of GMP’s Oldham CID, said “This was a disgusting abuse of a young girl and it is important that justice has been served for the victim, who has been receiving support from specialist officers and partner agencies throughout this investigation. There is absolutely no place for abuse such as this in our society. Ahmed is now behind bars to consider his actions and the profound impact they have had on his victim.”
