Woman Tragically Has Died After House Catches Fire In Wythenshawe

A woman has died after the fire in her house in Wythenshawe. The fire started at a property on Haveley Road in Benchill shortly after 6 pm on Friday. A joint investigation between GMP and the fire service has been launched.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Initial enquires established that the fire started in the lounge of the property.

A GMP spokesperson said: “A woman has sadly been pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed. There aren’t believed to be any other occupants inside the address. “

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 6.08 pm to a fire involving a semi-detached house on Haveley Road in Wythenshawe. Four fire engines from Wythenshawe, Altrincham, and Stockport attended.”
