After a violent knifepoint robbery in Ashton-under-Lyne, police officers are appealing to information from the public. At the robbery, a blue Audi A1 was stolen and the victims were injured with minor injuries.
Police got a report on 17 March 2021 that a violent knifepoint robbery occurred on Rowley Street at around 8 pm. While a 27-year old man and a 20-year-old female were sitting in a parked car, two men who were in balaclavas armed with large machetes and baseball bats approached the car. The men stole the vehicle and injured the victims.
The first offender is described as being of mixed race and the other one is described as white with fair skin in his mid-20s.
PC Rick Beswick, from GMP’s Volume Crime Team, said: “This was a violent unprovoked incident that has left two victims feeling understandably frightened and distressed. This robbery happened in a busy area and I am hopeful that there may be some witnesses who were in the area around this time. If you saw anything suspicious or have any information that could help with our investigation, please contact the police as soon as possible.”
