Trafford Council’s inaugural Green Skills Job Fair plants the seeds for future careers

Employers and training providers in the borough’s thriving ‘green sector’ showcased exciting opportunities at Trafford Council’s recent Green Skills Job Fair.

The event, held in Stretford Public Hall, featured a range of employers highlighting careers that support the Council’s environmental goals, including the Net Zero carbon emissions target, nature restoration, and tackling the climate crisis.

Attendees had the chance to meet green employers with immediate job vacancies, receive careers advice, participate in a green skills bootcamp, and learn about working with electric vehicle charging equipment, retrofit skills, solar panels, and smart home programming.

One attendee, Nicola Houghton, praised the event, saying: “Brilliant event! I left with resources and real opportunities to explore. Every stand had knowledgeable representatives, and I feel much more informed now. Can’t wait for the next one!”

Councillor Liz Patel, Lead Member for Economy and Regeneration, encouraged those interested in environmental careers to take the leap and learn more about pursuing a rewarding career in the green sector.

Andy Lord, Founder and Chief Executive of HydrogenSafe, a participating employer, expressed enthusiasm for a greener future and praised the success of the Green Skills Job Fair in Trafford.

Future events for those interested in green jobs include a tour of the Green Skills Academy on Trafford Park and Trafford College’s Green Tech Hub. For more information on upcoming events, contact employment@trafford.gov.uk.
