The stage is set for Bury Pride 2024

The streets of Bury are set to come alive with colour, music and celebration as Bury Pride returns on Saturday 1 June.

Bury Pride is the borough’s main Pride event, celebrating diversity and inclusion. It promises a wide array of activities and performances, designed to provide fun, inspiration and a sense of belonging.

The Pride event this year will be held entirely on Knowsley Street, outside Bury Town Hall, where stall holders, food and drink vendors and entertainers will be there all day from 10.30am onwards.

A Walking Rainbow Parade will wind through the heart of Bury from 1pm, with support from local community organisations and local businesses. Following the parade, the main stage will host a variety of live performances for everyone to enjoy.

David Murphy, Bury Pride organiser, said: “We are thrilled to be hosting Bury Pride again this year. We have taken on feedback from many who came along last year and have decided that this year, due to continued growth and support, we would host the entire event outside. We’re excited to welcome everyone to join us for a day of celebration, reflection and entertainment.”

Bury Pride is easily accessible by public transport, with Bury Interchange just a short walk from the event site. For those driving, there are several car parks available in the town centre.

Councillor Sandra Walmsley, cabinet member for communities, said: “As a founding member of Bury Pride, I am delighted to welcome the event back this year in support of our LGBTQI+ residents. Bury Pride grows year on year and goes a long way to showing the council’s support and encouragement of our brilliantly diverse community.”
