Two men have been arrested for the murder of 48-year-old Leigh Smith who was found dead in his home earlier this week.
Police were called to an address on Cook Street, Salford at 7.26 am on Tuesday with a report of a concern for the welfare of a man. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the body of Leigh Smith and, he was pronounced dead.
GMP has launched a murder investigation. Enquiries are ongoing. Two males, who are both 17, have been arrested for the investigation so far.
Detective Inspector Gareth Davies from GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “We are still very much looking to speak to anyone with any information – no matter how small the information may be.”
“We are particularly interested to speak to anyone who may have been in the area of Cook Street and Worsley Road in Eccles on the evening of Monday 21 June from around 7 pm and may have seen anything suspicious or unusual.”
“Leigh was a much-loved son, brother and father and, they are finding it difficult to process what has happened to him. I would urge anyone with information to contact the police.”
