A colourful procession celebrating the importance of communication is set to grace the streets of Bury – and you’re all welcome to join in!
The Many Hands Parade will kick off on The Rock on Saturday 23 March, starting at 2pm.
Under the direction of Ruth Jones, the Many Hands dancers will be meandering through the shopping centre from 11am to 12.30pm. These professionals have been collaborating with local community groups such as MAD theatre and Elms Bank School to prepare for the parade.
The parade will commence at 2pm with a performance outside Racconto Lounge. It will then proceed to travel around The Rock twice before returning to Racconto Lounge, where the parade participants will extend an invitation to the public to join in.
Many Hands is teaming up with Bury Council and is supported by the UKSPF (UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund) to invest in local communities and provide more opportunities for people to engage in arts, culture, and local heritage in Bury.
Interested in participating with your own hand-held prop? A drop-in craft and movement workshop will be held from 11.30am to 1.30pm at TJ Hughes in the Mill Gate Centre. No booking necessary, but there may be a short wait during busy periods.
At the workshop, you can create your own hand prop on a stick with the guidance of professional artist Nerissa Cargill-Thompson, and pick up a few dance moves to join in the grand finale of the parade. This activity is suitable for the whole family, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
