All entries must be for projects supported by Bolton’s Fund, which has distributed £6.5m worth of funding to over 1,200 projects across the town.
The fund was set up in 2019 by Bolton Council and Bolton CVS, along with partners including Bolton Wanderers in the Community, Bolton Together, Bolton at Home, Bolton NHS Foundation Trust and Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust.
It supports voluntary organisations, charities and not-for-profit groups to deliver projects and activities that benefit people and communities, making possible projects varying in cost from just a few thousand pounds to those that need significant investment.
The new awards scheme has been set up to mark the fund’s fifth birthday.
The winners will be crowned at a ceremony at Bolton town hall in December when, as well as an award, they will also receive £500 towards a new community project.
Bolton Council’s Executive Member for Stronger Communities, councillor Rabiya Jiva, said:
“All of the many projects that have been supported by Bolton’s Fund over the last five years deserve our sincere thanks and gratitude.
“They are often delivered by volunteers and community-minded residents who give up their own time for the benefit of their neighbourhoods.
“We want to recognise their efforts and we’re looking for the best of the best to celebrate and inspire more great projects for the future.”
Dawn Yates-Obé, Chief Executive at Bolton CVS, said:
“As we celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Bolton’s Fund grants programme, we invite organisations to nominate their outstanding projects, supported through Bolton’s Fund grants, for a chance to win one of six £500 prizes.
“Let’s recognise, support and celebrate the incredible work done by the VCSE sector across our communities!”
To nominate a project, visit the Bolton CVS website. Deadline for entries is Sunday, 27 October.
