Don’t expect to see Sergio Aguero in the Manchester City lineup anytime soon.
The club’s record goalscorer has tested positive for COVID and will continue to self-isolate.
Aguero had already been doing that after coming in close contact with someone who had the virus recently.
The Argentine confirmed the news on his Twitter account that he now has the virus.
His tweet reads: “After a close contact, I’ve been self-isolating and the latest test I took was positive for Covid-19.”
“I had some symptoms and I’m following doctor’s orders for recovery. Take care, everyone!”
It’s another setback in what’s been a season full of illnesses and injuries for Aguero.
The City striker missed the end of last season and the start of this campaign to recover from knee surgery.
He then suffered a hamstring injury early on in his return forcing him out of the lineup yet again.
Aguero’s been unavailable for the team’s last four games in order to follow the COVID-19 protocols.
The 32-year-old joins a long list of City players who’ve contracted the virus this season.
Ederson, Aymeric Laporte, Ilkay Gundogna, Ferran Torres, Gabriel Jesus, and Kyle Walker have all had to miss portions of this season due of COVID.
Aguero is set to become a free agent this summer. (JSL).
